This is the second scarf woven on my second warp using the weave structure that produces an iridescent effect. The pattern motifs are the same as in ‘Deep Sea’, the first one woven on this warp, but in this one each motif has been mirror imaged from its centre, producing a series of O’s and X’s. The weft is a rich orange colour, dyed with old dried onion skins. Onion skins usually produce a lovely bright gold colour, so it was a surprise to get this strong orangey colour instead! The scarf is entirely pure silk that’s been hand dyed by me and it is about 11” wide by 70” long, plus the 5” tasselled fringe at either end.
