The colours and design are intended to immitate certain parts of the wonderful sunrise I photographed from an upstairs window on January 28th this year. The construction is a 2 colour echo weave and, as usual with this type of weave, my images do not show it as it looks in real life, where the blue and yellow of the warp threads are more visible. The yarns are all 30/2s Chinese spun silk, all hand dyed in my workshop. I used onion skins to dye the yellows and synthetic dyes for the blues and pinks. The finished piece measures approximately 11” by 70”, plus the tassels at either end. Click on the main picture to view all images at full size.

Care advice: cool hand wash in detergent, (I use shampoo), hang to dry and steam press when nearly dry.
